Managing partner laura shaw

Laura Shaw joins SamiaLaw as Managing Partner of the firm. Laura completed her undergraduate education at Fordham University in New York and spent a year in Argentina studying Sociology and Spanish language and literature. After completing her undergraduate education, she earned her law degree at the University of Maine School of Law located in Portland, Maine. During law school, Laura focused her efforts on immigration law. She participated extensively in Maine Law’s Refugee and Human Rights Clinic representing immigrants seeking various forms of humanitarian relief and worked part time for a local, full-service immigration law firm. Upon graduation, Laura was awarded the faculty scholastic achievement award, awarded to the student earning the highest academic average in her law school class. She was also awarded the pro bono student award in recognition of her volunteer work assisting women and children held in detention in Texas and New Mexico after crossing the US/Mexico border. After law school, Laura went on to clerk for the Chief Justice of the Maine Supreme Court before joining Camden Law LLP, a small, general practice law firm located in Camden, Maine. At Camden Law, Laura gained valuable experience in a wide variety of areas, including criminal law, family law, immigration law, and civil litigation. Laura is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is a member of the Maine State bar (which allows her to practice immigration law anywhere in the country). In addition to servicing clients in the Boston area, Laura will continue to take immigration law cases based in her home state of Maine. Laura is thrilled to join SamiaLaw as Managing Partner and to focus her efforts solely on the practice of immigration law.
